Homemade Ice Cream Experiment
Homemade ice cream is a fun experiment that even results in a tasty treat.
The science behind this experiment is quite simple. The salt makes the ice colder and lowers its melting point which freezes the ingredients and creates ice cream.
Materials:
Gallon plastics bags
Quart or pint plastic bags
Spoons
Bowls
4 teaspoons of sugar (per person)
½ cup of half and half (per person)
¼ teaspoon of vanilla (per person)
Salt (any type)
Ice
Ice cream toppings (optional)
Measuring spoons
Measuring cups
Procedure:
Fill one of the smaller bags with the ingredients for the ice cream (half and half, sugar, and vanilla)
Add ice and salt to one of the bigger bags
Put the bag of ice cream ingredients into the bag with the ice and salt
Make sure the bags and securely closed and shake until an ice cream consistency is formed
