Rosalind Franklin

In 1920, Rosalind Franklin was born. In 1941, Franklin graduated college from the University of Cambridge with a degree in physical chemistry. In 1945, she received her doctorate from the University of Cambridge. After that, she studied X-ray diffraction and structural changes from heated carbon. In 1951, she used X-ray diffraction technology on DNA. She made significant discoveries in this area including the density of DNA and the helix shape of DNA. Her discoveries later led to the realization from Watson and Crick that DNA is shaped as a double helix. In 1958, Franklin died from cancer.
